Albert J Schwenker assistant treasurer and secretary of People s Trust Co of Bergen County wept as he pleaded guilty before U S Commissioner Theodore Kiscaras in Rutherford. The FBI said auditors estimate the amount involved and that Schwenker took thrift deposits while employed at First National Bank of Oradell before People s Trust bought it in May. Driver Killed in Curve Mishap Near Warsaw
Warsaw December 28 Lester Lee Knouff 17 of R R 2 Warsaw was killed early today when a car in which he rode went out of control on an Indiana 25 curve southwest of here. The vehicle skidded through a fence into a field and struck a tree. The victim was thrown from the car and died at the scene before an ambulance arrived. Driver Richard Dale Freeman 18 was injured but not seriously.

Theft of Christmas mail uncovered near West Terre Haute
A hunter found two sacks of mail 20 feet from the north wall of the West Terre Haute grade. Postal Inspector C A L Burrows said the Friday discovery may be part of a theft involving three bags from the C E I station last Sunday. One bag held Tribune Star for Chicago and another for Memphis Tennessee. Deputies Taylor and Carpenter collected the loot after the hunter alerted authorities. The earlier theft had two bags recovered by a motorist six miles east of Arom Field on Road 828.

Thomas F. Cahill 55 prominent Terre Haute merchant died after a short illness at St. Anthony Hospital. He lived at 435 South Eighteenth street and ran a drug store at Seven teenth and Poplar, later partnering in a grocery business with his brother. Victim in Blast Recovering at Union Hospital
John Drake, 49, of Farmersburg, remained in fair condition Saturday at Union Hospital after a gas explosion rocked the D. W. Drake Produce Company building at 124 South Fourth Street Friday morning. Authorities say the blast stemmed from gas beneath a sidewalk. ignition cause is undetermined. Drake was in the basement when the explosion lifted a five foot sidewalk slab and damaged the basement wall, splintered floor timbers, and shattered storefront windows.
