Snow Begins Halting Indiana Roads Across State

Snow began grazing highways in the northern two thirds of Indiana as crews started treating roads. Up to two inches was expected in the north, a half to an inch in the midstate, with little or none in the south. Cautious driving was urged and hazardous conditions were warned by the Weather Bureau.

Barber Arrested Over Moonshine Still in Abandoned House

Clyde Forrest Umphries a 33 year old West Terre Haute barber was arrested Sunday on possession of a moonshine still. State excise Lt Clarence McCullough led the raid uncovering 100 gallons of mash five empty barrels 206 empty jugs a 30 gallon still a four burner cooker and two 100 pound gasoline tanks.
