Wallace Fuller accused Evelyn in Vigo Circuit Court as dying declaration from the wounded man was admitted over defense objections. Judge Criss ruled the statement admissible noting the victim believed he faced death when speaking. Portions deemed conclusions were deleted and the jury was recalled.
A 34 year old poultry worker Fillmore Young admitted killing Harold Smith 30 and Arlene Smith 35 of Lebanon then led officials to wells containing their bodies. He described the night of November 27 and said he feared execution by electric chair. Bodies found near Posey and Boulder after led authorities to the sites.
Mrs. Rose Alexander 42 pleads innocent to killing ex husband’s second wife Barbara Alexander 27 and burying her in the Casper basement July 18 1953. She testified death was accidental and said she feared for the children.
Raymond Shepler aged 32 of Logansport died Thursday night after falling from a Pennsylvania Railroad boxcar while on a switching job in the Logansport yards.

Vigo Circuit Court heard testimony in the death of an eight month old infant. Edward Leon Moore 22 admitted to authorities he threw the child to the floor in a rage. Police report the baby suffered 72 cuts and abrasions from prior beatings.
Purdue football coach Stu Holcomb was named Northwestern athletic director. He received a five year contract, replacing Ted Payseur who moved to an assistant business manager post in a university staff reorganization. Holcomb, 45, had coached at Purdue since 1947 under a ten year deal with four years remaining.
Bonn reports that West Germany will sever diplomatic ties with any nation recognizing the Communist East German regime in the future. The Foreign Office announced the stance today amid ongoing Cold War tensions.

United Nations talks sparked by Chiang Kai-shek's Nationalist China warning to block admission of new members this year. The Defense Department announced a February draft call of 6000 men, the lowest since Korea began. The January call was reduced from 8000 to 6000, aided by Navy re‑enlistments and Army strength cuts. Officials expect about 6000 draftees for the first half of next year.
W. Frank Paitson, 31, Terre Haute businessman, died after his car struck a railing on a viaduct above U S Highway 40 near East Glenn and he plunged 31 feet to the Pennsylvanian railroad tracks. Kenneth Cox, a passing trucker, aided him and said Paitson lost control at high speed. Coroner Dr. Denzil M. Ferguson Jr withheld verdict pending further investigation. Continued on page 8 column 4.
In Nicosia Cyprus on December 9 British police found a small quantity of explosives during house searches across 25 Cypriot monasteries. Eight people were arrested including one monk as Greek Cypriot discontent with union activity continues amid yearlong unrest.
Miss Cecelia Siepen, 83, died today after being struck by a car while walking to mass near her Evansville home. Driver Julius Kasper, 61, was charged with failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian.
