On Tuesday afternoon in Chuckatuck William C. Cowper and Samuel Whitfield Jr. fought. Cowper fired, Whitfield returned fire, striking Cowper in the abdomen and killing him. Josiah C. Parker then shot Whitfield, who died, with a nearby Black man also killed by the gunfire.
Worfolk Beacon reports Parker took passage yesterday afternoon in a Baltimore steam boat. The brief notice notes the voyage and the vessel name, highlighting a travel development in the harbor area.
Missouri resident Thomas Tyc ell advertises a cancer on his nose cured after failing with Dr. Smith of New Haven and Western surgeons. A description notes that the whales come up with their mouths open and then are struck by a boat like a mouse by a cat. After being tossed about for a while they are forced from the area, having sustained six severe wounds and contusions. The report adds the whales are unusually fierce and cross.
Extraordinary theatrical success for Mademoiselle Celeste on Saturday at the Chesnut street theatre Philadelphia as she completes her sixth engagement. The Pennsylvanian reports she has earned thirty four thousand dollars in six months with twelve benefits in New York, six in Boston, six in Philadelphia, and two in Baltimore averaging about $1,000 per benefit.

On the eleventh ult a sailor named Sam Patchisin leaped from the mainmast of a full rigged brig into the Schuylkill near Philadelphia to cheers from a large crowd. On Thursday the 12th inst a man named Sturdevant and his wife in Wells township Bradford County Penn were killed by fighting while in bed. A child in the bed was only slightly injured.
