The son of Andrew Beam of Perry County Somerset ate wild parsnip found in the fields with other children. He died within an hour, according to the Ohio Journal, after the incident last week.
A storm over the North caused a herd of 65 fat hogs to be driven to market. One bolt of lightning struck, killing 63 of the hogs in the field. The owner witnessed the disaster as he attempted to move them.
A Western paper reports Jo Smith the High Priest of the Mormons preached that an Angel would appear during baptism ceremonies on the Grand River in Ohio. Benjamin Lundy arrived in Nashville from Texas where he sought a grant of land to establish a colony of black people. He has secured a firm grant to a large fertile tract, promising success through perseverance for the cause he champions.
An official statement declares that since 1830 the number of slaves emancipated in French colonies in the West Indies totals 24 123.
