Judge tosses out suit to halt Taos summer chairlift
A U S District Court judge ruled the Committee to Save the Rio Hondo lacked standing to stop Taos Ski Valley’s summer chairlift, calling their bid to void Leonard Lucero’s approval misdirected. The case, filed May 27 1994 by Santa Fe attorney Steven Sugarman, challenged watershed concerns, irrigation needs, and NEPA compliance, but did not seek an injunction against summer operation. The lift began last summer, with Forest Service procedures dating back to 1981 and a 1990 proposal.
