Taos fluoride in water sparks public debate and support

Town of Taos plans to add one part per million sodium fluoride to the water, triggering protests over health effects. Critics, led by Mark Fitzpatrick, claim fluoride harms minerals and cavities, while Dr. James Calderone of the EID argues that at trace levels it is not toxic and aids dental health. He cites research from New Mexico communities with natural eight ppm fluoride showing no increase in death or disease. Local dentists back fluoridation, noting the two year plant supply from the EID.
