James Butts Jr first mayor of Angel Fire dies at 60
James Butts Jr a pivotal Angel Fire leader died at 60 from pulmonary hypertension. He helped establish the village in 1986 winning the first election and served as mayor and council member. Friends recall his dedication, early packets, and service to fire, library, and chamber. Funeral was held in Texas with a local memorial Friday in Angel Fire.

Historic preservationist restores Camino Real carreta in Taos
Randall, former Taos Historic Museums Board chairman, spent about a month refurbishing a refurbished carreta in front of La Hacienda de los Martinez. The replica, built in the 1970s, had deteriorated. nearly every part was replaced except the axle and wheels. The cart is back on display, with Carmen Zacarias of Taos Historic Museums thanking him.
