Taos Officers Lead North Torch Run for Special Olympics
About a dozen Taos law enforcement personnel and the district attorney started the Special Olympics torch southward from the north on Wednesday. Four torches represent each direction as Taos officers ran and biked 25 miles to the county line to hand to Rio Arriba County. The torches head to Albuquerque for Friday afternoon arrival and the main lighting at UNM stadium with the Athlete of the Year. Fundraising continues through September via T shirts and sponsorships with local donations encouraged via Lt. Daron Syling of Taos Police Department at 505 758 2216.

Chopper crash victim named in high altitude training
Tech Sergeant Scott A. Bobbitt, 38, of Clarendon Texas, was identified as the crew member killed May 11 when a Pave Hawk helicopter crashed during a high altitude training mission in Angel Fire. Two other crew survived injured. names unreleased. The helicopter belonged to the 58th Special Operations Wing, 512th Rescue Squadron. Survivors were taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
