Weekend weather outlook and past storm totals

The National Weather Service forecasts dry conditions this weekend with highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Last week's spring storms produced four inches of snow on Friday May 5 and 1.41 inches of moisture for the week. The high of 65 occurred Tuesday May 9, and the low of 26 on Monday May 8.

Cause of Pot Creek fire remains unknown

The Pot Creek fire damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Allen, with losses estimated at 25 000 to 30 000 dollars. Fire Chief Bill Ryan said the blaze began in the wood storage area near the house and investigators will determine the cause. About 12 firefighters and two Allen vehicles fought the fire for an hour and a half, with insurance investigators to assess remaining content value later in the week.

West Side Story proves financially successful at Taos Auditorium

Taos Community Auditorium reports a strong box office for West Side Story with nine sell-out shows, grossing $5,400 from $3 adults and $1.50 children. A $1,500 New Mexico Arts Commission grant helped push the project into the black, boosting plans for Inside the Museum in June.

Pat Heinen RN director of Mountain Home Health Care Taos is appointed to a three year term on district 2 of the New Mexico Health Systems Agency council as a health care provider member. Taos Bank Awarded 45000 In Paisano Default Funds

Centinel Bank of Taos won 45000 from American Fidelity Fire Insurance in a dispute over funds owed by the defunct Paisano Nodaway Construction to Taos for a sewer system expansion. Judge John B. Wright ruled the insurance bonding firm failed to record its contract, enabling swift appeal. The town and other garnishees faced Paisano’s default on a loan exceeding 100000.
