Council hires Lopez as village attorney in Questa

This Thursday Ad THE TADS NEWS reports that Lopez replaces Bifu Rottieto as Questa village attorney. The council confirmed Lopez’s appointment at the organizational meeting on Monday March 16. Mayor Gaillour, after Romero’s resignation, recommended Lopez who also serves Taos town and Molycorp workers union. Romero’s billing dispute remains under review with total charges near $17,000. The CAC and EPA demand proper billing and certification. The council, under reorganization, made Bernie Ortega mayor pro tem and rehired most staff, including officer Larry Leffler who resumed duties after a settlement. Leffler’s back pay totaled $500 and he dropped further litigation. The council awarded a $44,660 contract to McReynolds Construction. Meetings move from the second to the third Monday each month, and a purchase order system gives the clerk-treasurer more control over expenditures.
