Diane Izzo a Taos transplant and Chicago noted singer songwriter died at 43 in an Albuquerque hospital on February 25. Friends recall her gift for uniting artists and her plans to re release her music including the album One. A memorial will be held March 26 at the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram Taos.

Taos artist Gary Fey died at 55 after a medical-related occurrence last Friday in his home. His brother Steven Fey recalled their weekly Monday talks and Gary’s lifelong dedication to batik. A memorial with a gallery opening is planned for Friday at Good Thunder Bank at 6 p.m., with attendees urged to share stories rather than send flowers.

The Taos Community Foundation and Smith's Food & Drug Stores promote tax deductible donations for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. Taos CF directs funds through international partners for emergency aid and long term support.
