Taos Municipal School District will grant a 6.5 percent across the board raise for all certified, non certified and administration staff after June 13 board approval of the 1995 96 budget. The district projects about $575 533 for the raise and outlines capital improvements totaling $13 180 487 for the year including land purchases and new Taos North Side school construction, classroom additions at Taos High and Ranchos Elementary, and funds for computer personnel and equipment.

Northside school project waits on site deal
Taos Municipal Schools official Andy Gallegos says the new northside school is on hold until a site is found. Two parcels near the SH 230 and 150 intersection, both owned by Jose and Manuel Lucero, are under consideration. The fall 1996 move target remains uncertain and teachers fear mid year disruption. Land cost figures discussed include about 50 000 dollars per acre, with local brokers noting about 45 000 dollars per acre in the area.
