Diverse coalition builds Taos Habitat headquarters project
Dignitaries, community leaders, carpenters, and housing advocates gathered to celebrate Habitat for Humanity of Taos as work began on a new 2,000 square foot headquarters on Salazar Road. Architect Mark Goldman described the effort as grassroots and coalition driven, with Native American women owned construction, locally sourced materials, and most funding from an 80 to 85 percent federal grant. Second phase plans include a 6,000 square foot warehouse for ReStore operations, targeted for 2015 completion.
