Taos man to stand trial on child abuse and sexual contact charges
Taos a Taos man Anthony Mirabal, 25, faces district court trial Wednesday on two third degree felonies for abusing a 14 month old boy. The child was brought to Taos Pueblo Health Clinic with bruises and later to Holy Cross Hospital where bruises were noted around the penis. Mirabal is the boy’s uncle by marriage and is out on a 5000 dollar bond with a 10 percent cash provision. If convicted he faces up to six years in prison and ten thousand dollars in fines. The district attorney notes this is the second child abuse case in a month with two others pending.
