Community garden grows dreams with kids on backs
Five women and one couple tend a Taos project run by the Taos County Economic Development Corporation and Sustainable Agriculture Cooperative. They bring children aged two to five, plus a seven month pregnant participant, to work the 56 160 foot rows. The gardeners say benefits include no child care costs, socializing for kids, learning about gardening, and a sense of farming beyond mere gardening. They work three hours each morning in pairs, with no pay currently.
