Taos Area Tax Receipts Reported For April And March 1971

Taos County and nearby communities posted combined April gross receipts tax of 24 446.85 with Taos County at 10 359.00, Taos 11 870.26, Questa 2 097.04 and Red River 85.55. Gasoline tax totaled 4 775.51 for Taos County, 10 794.50 for Taos, 2 644.20 for Questa and 107.70 for Red River. Luxury tax cigarette fund for Taos County and its towns in March 1971 reached 2 224.71 plus a 177.33 luxury recreation fund. A temporary help service Daylight Girls will aid Taos businessmen during vacations or illnesses, offering placement and daycare for visitors’ children. Office on Bent Street operates 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., led by Linda White and Jan Daily. staff includes bookkeepers, secretaries, waitresses, clerks, and researchers.

Baha i Picnic Friday In Taos At Kit Carson Park

The Baha is of Taos host a Friday picnic from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kit Carson Park to mark international race unity day. Ernest and Barbara Bruss with their four sons, traveling Baha i teachers from Hawaii, visit Taos June 11 to present slide shows and talks on the oneness of humankind. A public meeting follows at the Harwood Foundation at 8 p.m.

FFA Builds Greenhouse At Questa High School

The Future Farmers of America program at Questa High School has built a greenhouse as part of a three year plan to teach horticulture. Clarence Archuleta, the vocational agriculture instructor, plans to add in house production. FFA members wired, plumbed, and built benches while planting over 1 000 chili plants 500 tomatoes 50 peppers and many flowers for summer sale.
