A long list of Taos High School graduates is continuing from page 1, naming numerous students with surnames Martinez Med ina Montano Montoya and many others. The article notes a Friday deadline for Arts and Society page terms and asks for cooperation in submitting items.
Marriage licenses were issued for numerous couples across Taos County and nearby towns. Names include Theresa Torres and Modesta Montano, Katheryn Cisneros and Manuel Gonzales, Johnna Hickam and Mike May, Teresa Mondratan and Marcelino Trujillo, Carman Trejillo and John Rivera, Gen Eva Cardenas and Roy Montoya, Victoria Medina and Jimmy Salazar, Suzanna Marcus and Jessie Archuleta, Joanne Martinez and Kenneth Antonio, among others. ages range from teens to adults.
Ranchos farmers warn pay dam costs could strip land and water rights while proponents say federal projects bring growth. Richard Cooke of Interstate Streams Commission says council will see project value with full facts amid opposition from locals including Holder who criticizes lack of planning and backyard sewer fears.
The CAP Youth group and council members argued about the hiring of coordinators. Ajay and Roger Asay voiced discomfort claiming the process was unclear, while Ortega and Fishbein defended the communications and policies. George E Segura aged 31 of Cerro died May 15 in a San Luis car accident. He is survived by his widow Mrs. George Segura two sons William and Marian two daughters Claudinita and Nicol his parents Mr and Mrs Juan Segura of Fort Garland five sisters and one brother. Funeral services were held May 18 at Guadalupe Parish Cerro with rosaries May 16 and May 17. Burial in Cerro local cemetery. Pallbearers named. Garcia Funeral Home arranged arrangements.
Miguel Sherman a senior English major at the University of New Mexico was named a new member of the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society during honors day. He is the son of Mrs. Barbara C Sherman.
Three Taos County men Henry Garcia of Ranchos Peter Fresquez of Penasco and Victor Romero of Vadito have enlisted for two years and are undergoing basic training at Ft. Polk Louisiana. Fresquez and Romero are recent Penasco High graduates while Garcia attended Taos High before enlisting.
