Firefighters narrowly escape collapse during wall failure

Two firefighters faced with a collapsing wall on a balcony. Driskell was knocked down as debris trapped him while Fambro was pinned by a gate and cement column. Water and smoke surrounded them as rescuers directed Fambro to jump to a tarp below, aided by his brother firefighters.

Taos High School Fire Arson Confession Leads to Suspension

A Taos High School fire on January 15 is suspected arson. A 15 year old student confessed and is being evaluated for prosecution by juvenile services after a locker room blaze between two gyms. Head custodian Walter Martinez was treated for smoke inhalation. no other injuries reported.

Taos mayor highlights progress in annual State of the Town address

Taos Mayor Bobby Duran opened the State of the Town speech praising town management staff and council, noting the $28 million operating budget and over $55 million in net assets. He paid tribute to Fire Chief Jim Fambro and Assistant Fire Chief Weldon Driskell, injured battling the Big Bees fire on Jan 16, and urged residents to keep them in their prayers.
