Two Die In Taos Highway Collisions Over Holidays

Taos County highway toll rose to 11 for 1977 after two women died in a New Year crash and a third woman was killed on State Highway 68 near Llano Quemado. Bertha Martinez, 28, died at Holy Cross Hospital after a three vehicle wreck near the Holiday Inn. Martha Romero, 23, was hospitalized and later released. Bella Archuleta, 22, died when struck by a car as she walked. Investigations involve Hamilio Gonzales, 19, charged with DUI and related offenses. immigration authorities notified.
