Taos schools, Lopez settle with student family
A Taos science teacher Ernie Lopez along with the Taos Board of Education and Taos Municipal Schools settled a lawsuit from parents of a student who accused Lopez of violently kicking the stool from under the student on March 30, 1999. The $40,000 payment in satisfaction of all claims covers bodily injuries and medical bills and the agreement notes the incident as an accident with each party paying their own costs and no admission of fault.
