Taos County 911 tax proposal on February ballot
Taos voters will decide on a new gross receipts tax to fund the 911 dispatch center. The proposed tax would add about 18 cents per $100 purchases and raise roughly $850,000 to $870,000 annually, with potential to reach $1 million in good snow years. Current funding comes from Taos County, the town of Taos, and other partners, supporting a $720,000 yearly budget and 12 dispatchers.
