Taos police hunt for a peach color 1978 Lincoln Continental stolen from Plaza del Retiro parking, owner John Himes. Vehicle bears a prestige plate RETIRO. Earlier Saturday a pickup was reported stolen from the same lot and later found abandoned two days later by state and town officers.

Taos artist Mario Larrinaga dies at 84 in California
Taos painter and gallery founder Mario Larrinaga died Saturday in Camarillo, California, at age 84. A Basque born artist who moved to the United States as a child, he worked for Universal Pictures before focusing on painting and special effects. He helped found Gallery A in Taos in 1960 with Eric Gibberd, and his work spanned film design and numerous paintings influenced by Spanish and Mexican roots. He is survived by his wife Isabelle and two children.
