Viet Medal for Torrez Honors Young Soldier in Vietnam
The Republic of South Vietnam posthumously awards Specialist Fourth Class Manuel Antonio Torrez of Talpa, killed February 26 on patrol in Vietnam. His parents, Anselmo and the late name, received the Military Merit Medal December 5, with Purple Heart and Bronze Star also presented. Torrez was 18, a 25th Infantry Division paratrooper and patrol scout who graduated Taos High in 1965.
