Taos County Denies Keith Randall Auto Shop Permit

Taos County denied Keith Randall's business license application for an auto shop at State Road 68. Planning Director Anne Lovely said Randall may respond next week to a stop order issued December 1 to cease building without permits. Neighbors allege constant noise and vehicle activity impact the neighborhood.

Dumpster puppies rescue at Stray Hearts Shelter

Four female Australian shepherd mix puppies found abandoned in a dumpster near an El Prado trailer park are recovering at Stray Hearts Animal Shelter. The staff, including manager Cindy Sharfin and volunteer veterinarian Dr. Holly Johnson, seek the owner of the mother dog who is not spayed. The pups, whose eyes are not yet open, will need about six weeks before adoption.

Taos Inn to light tree during festive December program

The Historic Taos Inn hosts its annual tree lighting Saturday from 6:15 to 7:45 PM. A 20 foot tree in the lobby will be lit with 10 000 lights and caroling will be led by Jen Korte and the Loss. The band will perform original songs after the lighting until 9:30 PM as part of a broader Lighting of Ledoux event with luminaries open houses and refreshments.

Taos Feeds Taos aims for 1000 holiday baskets

Taos Feeds Taos plans 1000 baskets for 1000 families in its 24th year. Each basket feeds a family for a week, costing about 100 dollars in food totaling roughly 100000 dollars and 60000 pounds. Applications rose amid economic strain, with mostly unemployed residents applying and many qualifying by income and poverty level rules. Distribution occurs December 21 to 22 across Taos, Questa, Penasco, Amalia and Costilla locations. donations and volunteers are sought via phone and the website.

Unclaimed Property List Includes Taos County Names

Taos County residents may find their names among unclaimed money and property in the Taxation and Revenue Department notice. The department lists owners of abandoned property worth over $50, including Anansi Charter School Health Centers of Northern New Mexico and Ojo Caliente Elementary. Call (505) 476-1774 for details.
