Solaria First To Sign Up For Green Tariff In NM Co-op

Kit Carson Electric Co-op in New Mexico becomes the first rural co-op to offer green energy to customers. Solaria of Taos purchased electricity from wind turbines, with Flo of a Colorado solar installer and Mapes as early adopters. The tariff costs 7.27 cents per kWh for standard power and 9.77 cents for green energy plus a $10 monthly service fee, bought in 100 kWh increments. Green energy will be added to the general supply, not segregated, aiming to benefit the environment and the co‑op’s business. Brad Hockmeyer of KTAO is noted as the third signer.
