Taos County living treasures honor diverse community service
Taos County honors 2017 living treasures reflecting decades of volunteer work across many professions. Honorees include Taos Pueblo Gov. Ruben A Romero and other notable elders chosen from citizen nominations. The annual ceremony, started three decades ago by artist Ted Egri, draws hundreds to celebrate devoted community members.

Suspect arraigned after Rio Grande Gorge hit-and-run
Taos: Juan Rodelas, 22, of Ranchos de Taos, arraigned in Taos County Magistrate Court on charges from a hit-and-run near the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge that left 74 year old Charles Covington with life threatening injuries. Witnesses saw a silver Chevrolet Cavalier speed away eastbound as Covington and family walked along U.S. 64. Off duty police, firefighters and bystanders applied a tourniquet and aided the victim until emergency responders arrived.
