State to fund $5000 street widening near Tabor City
Mayor W Horace Carter announced state aid of five thousand dollars for widening and curbing the road from the American Legion Hut to the city limits on US 701. L J Whitfield said drainage surveys and plans will be completed before advertising for bids. About 2640 feet will be widened, improving the entrance to Tabor City.

J C Singletary 41 died at 645 am in Roberson County hospital Lambertson after months of illness. He was a native of Bladen County and lived in Tabor City since 1986 working with Atlantic Coast Line and later farmed. He served in World War I. Funeral at 3 pm Sunday at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. P C Gantt officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Survived by wife Eunice Harrelson and five brothers and five sisters.
