National Weather Service at Hancock Airport says showers will affect the area tonight and tomorrow with lows around 50 to 55 and highs of 65 to 70. Rain chances run at about 70 percent for both nights. The outlook extends into Sunday with continued cloudiness and a chance of showers.

Washington AP reports Sandra Day O Connor, 51, sworn in by Chief Justice Burger as associate justice, becoming the first woman on the U S Supreme Court. President Reagan attended with about 500 guests. O Connor vows to administer justice impartially and to do equal right to the poor and the rich despite prior pro abortion scrutiny.
President Reagan scrapped major Social Security reforms, proposing to pause action for a year and a half while a bipartisan commission studies permanent fixes. He restored minimum benefits for the truly needy and dropped plans to delay cost-of-living adjustments and other benefits, narrowing the deficit gap.
