Wife of Hafner heir found dead
The wife of an heir to Jake Hafner’s family fortune was found dead Sunday with bruises on her body. Investigators called the death suspicious but not yet ruled homicide. Sharon Hafner, 47, was found in a second floor bedroom at 5008 W Taft Reona in Clay at 10 am Sunday. Paramedics were called when she did not wake. She died at St Joseph’s Hospital Health Center about 45 minutes later. Investigators questioned Peter Hafner, 52, about the death for more than five hours. Sheriff John Dillon said bruises were noted on the body and autopsy results were pending. Peter Hafner said he found his wife unconscious. One source said she was bruised after falling down stairs outside the home. The couple had no children. Peter Hafner has two children from a previous marriage. They lived at the West Taft Road home to care for Peter’s maternal aunt, Dorothy Dwyer, who owns the home across the street.
