ISS Progress Zvezda Blended Docked During Atlantis Approach
Astronauts first glimpse the Progress resupply ship and Zvezda service module docked with the ISS on approach to Atlantis. The station, 143 feet long and 67 tons, will span labor, life support and research facilities for a crew of up to seven, with emergency return vehicles always attached. The launch from Kennedy Space Center on September 15 set Atlantis on a 4.52 million pound liftoff, while the ISS program evolves as a 16 nation partnership with six laboratories and expanded habitable volume.
