Weather notes show breezy conditions with a few showers and a thunderstorm. Thursday turns brisk and cooler with a leftover shower. Friday cool with clouds, then a warm high near 87. Saturday and Sunday are mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs 85 and 70 respectively.
In Cicero Frank Rego loses as town supervisor candidate Robert George defeats him 970 to 795. George, 30, celebrated with supporters at the Gator's Mug while Cicero Republicans hailed the outcome and called it a town recovery from a long political hold.
Oklahoma City safety inspector Lester LaRue was fired by Oklahoma Natural Gas Co for refusing to disclose profits from an image of Baylee Almon during the bombing rescue. ONG cited an ethical policy against employees benefiting financially from company work. LaRue contesting the severance, claiming the policy misapplied. negotiations continue.
About 14 or 15 skydivers parachuted in the buff during the ninth annual Labor Day show near Fort Dodge Iowa. Mayor Joe McBride Jr warned of canceling the Des Moines Skydivers club annual event if naked descents recur.
Betty Louise Clark of Essex Maryland planned one last meet with her estranged husband Mark Clark to shop for school clothes for their children. A day later his station wagon burned in a Baltimore area lot. Police suspect he packed the car with dynamite and killed his family and himself. The Clarks' four children were among the victims. Neighbors said Clark, 82, had threatened to kill himself and his family.
