Execution stay denied for California man
Circuit Judge John Rudd refused to delay the execution of John A. Spinkellink, a California escapee, set for Monday in Florida. The defense argued juror exclusion and unconstitutional sentence. the judge called the motion frivolous. Spinkellink, 28, would be the first Florida inmate executed in 13 years and follows Gary Gilmore’s 1977 death.
