Czech family flees communism by homemade balloon

A famous Czechoslovak cyclist Robert Hutyra and his family fled East Germany in a self built hot air balloon. They landed safely in northeastern Austria near Drasenhofen with an 11 year old son and a 14 year old daughter. Austrian officials expect asylum to be granted after processing. Two East German guards defected to the West with rifles.
