Road Toll Tops 330 Amid Holiday Weekend Deaths
By late Labor Day morning 331 lives were lost on U S highways during the three day weekend. The National Safety Council estimates 470 to 570 fatalities for the period. In New York State at least 14 deaths were reported with two drownings noted. A motorcyclist died at the Afton Fairgrounds in Chenango County and four died in a two car crash on N Y 17 in Tuxedo Orange County where all four were passengers in the same vehicle.

Babe hits Louisiana as tropical storm aftermath unfolds
