Five day outlook for central New York shows tonight mainly cloudy with a few showers likely late Tuesday. Expect breezy cooler conditions midweek with sun breaking through Wednesday and Thursday mainly sunny. Friday turns partly sunny, breezy and warmer with a mix of planets and moon rise times listed.
Forecasts show thunderstorms across the South today while the Northeast expects a calm and pleasant Labor Day. Officials advised residents to enjoy outdoor plans but stay aware of changing weather conditions.
A broad storm system was forecast to stretch from Texas to Georgia and Florida into Kentucky and Virginia, bringing lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain. Scattered showers were expected from Michigan to Indiana and Illinois with a cold front moving through the Great Lakes, while the West faced clouds and showers in Washington and parts of California, Utah, Arizona and Nevada. Firefighters in Glacier National Park braced for windy conditions as a 48,000 acre blaze risked flare ups, and temperatures ranged from 33 to 106 across the Lower 48 with regions posting 60s to 100s across multiple zones.
South winds prevail as waters run west with 10 to 20 knot speeds. Visibility remains vast at 10 to 15 miles, with occasional choppiness noted in certain areas.
