Snowstorm traps motorists in Colorado rescue tale
Kristyn Stimuts, 20, stranded on U S Highway 24 near Calhan for over 24 hours, used cell phone updates, radio nets, and porch light signals coordinated by ham operators and Calhan firefighters to direct rescuers. The Glads endured 30 hours in a ditch, surviving with CB radio, limited food, and blankets until snowplows freed them.
