The owner of stations 95X and 93Q plans to sell his broadcasting company in Syracuse and accelerate a fiber optic expansion. The deal hinges on regulatory approvals and market prospects as the sale moves forward.
John F. Dove of Dove Electronics plans a Syracuse plant to manufacture a university licensed amplifier for fiber optic systems. The new amplifier, developed for optic lines, would process five to ten times more data than current models and cut costs by using light-emitting diodes instead of lasers, accelerating fiber adoption in homes and networks.
In Central New York counties Onondaga Cayuga Madison and Oswego part time legislators receive full or subsidized health insurance and other perks. Annual salaries top about 10 000 dollars and Oswego County covers all medical costs for lawmakers and their families plus a 50000 life policy costing about 151 000 dollars yearly.
