Ernest Emmanuel a Brooklyn 45th District candidate was charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly pressuring the former treasurer of his group Friends of Ernest Emmanuel to provide false information to federal investigators. He appeared in Manhattan federal court and was released on his own recognizance. Prosecutors said he forged signatures of fictitious contributors and could face up to 10 years and a 250000 dollar fine if convicted.

Teen-ager gains custody after hiding baby in closet
In Suffolk County Family Court Judge David Freundlich granted 17 year old Shanta Clark custody of Navora Malik Clark with conditions including residence in a young mothers facility, drug and alcohol testing, and medical exams. Clark pleaded guilty to neglect after secretly giving birth on Sept 21 and hiding the infant for 214 weeks. DNA testing may determine paternity for Michael Johnson 16, the claimed father.
