Economist predicts one more year of falling home values in Central New York

National Association of Realtors chief economist John Tuccillo spoke in Syracuse at a Central New York Home Builders dinner. He warned the Central New York market will likely decline for about a year before leveling off, driven by 1980s overvalued transactions. He noted the Northeast faces similar pressures, while parts of the West remain stronger. He forecast limited growth through 1996 and predicted shifts toward smaller homes as baby boomers age, with technology shaping future construction and rooms dedicated to computing and media.
