About 200 000 donors are pledged to regular eye donations to Indian and international eye banks including AIIMS New Delhi Maharashtra Eye Bank Bombay Indore Eye Bank Bangkok and Hong Kong Eye Bank with a minimum annual provision of 300 eye pairs for overseas use after local needs. Recipient countries pay only nominal air transport costs from Ceylon thanks to technical and financial aid from the Ceylon government Washington Eye Bank and CARE.
