North Medical Community Health Plan an HMO founded six years ago by Dr A John Merola is folding. HMO-CNY a Blue Cross subsidiary will take over November 1 with no immediate changes to coverage benefits or rates. About 5 to 6 employees may lose jobs. 12,500 subscribers in Onondaga and Oswego counties will transition. Merola will focus on medical development projects including North Medical Center in Liverpool and Northeast Medical Center near Fayetteville.
