Rep. Buchanan says lobbying is a billion dollar industry and vows to push for new laws to reveal how money funds influence on Capitol Hill. He notes corporations spent over 32 million in three years to sway legislation, far above lobbyist registrations of 750 thousand.
A Soviet led bloc urged the Big Three to join in a four point framework to establish a democratic, peace loving, all German sovereign government. The plan, issued after Molotov and seven Allied foreign ministers met in Prague, calls for no remilitarization and adherence to the Potsdam framework to create a unified German state.
Western sources view the Prague issued Soviet bloc Germany communique as the most cleverly worded since the war. They say it seeks to trigger deep patriotic sentiment to block Western Germany’s integration into the western defense system.
The communique outlines phased goals to remove hindrances to a peaceful German economy, rehabilitate war potential, and conclude a peace treaty. It calls for a unified German state within a year of treaty signature and an all German constitutional council with broad occupation-power approval. The four allied powers would consult on treaty elaboration until a central German government forms, with broader regional governments invited to participate.

Investigations cite Communist activity reports and aim to improve expenditure data by Army area with new divisions stationed in six U S areas and Washington D C.
Chicago post office inspector investigates mailing of 1500 postcards depicting Los Angeles as a city of thieves and criminals. New York police say Florence Healey, 57, admitted stealing 39000 from her employer over four years to aid an alcoholic boyfriend. She was held on 7500 bail on grand larceny and forgery charges after allegedly altering checks to steal 200 earlier this month.
Raymond Peer, 14, a Boy Scout from Kalamazoo, admits fatally shooting his father, a high school teacher, and his mother after claiming they were stingy. He initially said his mother killed his father and then took her own life, but later confessed. He said he took the gun from a cabinet, hid it, and shot his father while he worked on a barn, then killed his mother to cover it up. He expressed a later wish to continue music lessons in custody.
