William Rumrill, 30, is suspected in a trio of Oswego County convenience store robberies Wednesday afternoon. A high speed chase with police through Oswego and Onondaga counties ended when Rumrill crashed in DeWitt. He was injured and in fair condition at University Hospital. Police say he painted a stolen minivan red but kept the license plate. First degree robbery charges are pending. Onondaga sheriffs and SWAT investigated possible connections to another Sunrise Food Store robbery in Bridgeport.
Rumrill allegedly robbed EZ Stop in Oswego and Maple View Mini Mart, then fled painting his van red. Police pursued along I 81 and Route 104, with multiple units joining as the driver sped and passed cars before a crash near DeWitt. Rumrill was arraigned on burglary and grand larceny charges.
The United States urged the World Court to dismiss Libya’s bid to lift U.N. Security Council sanctions tied to the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. Libya offered a neutral-country trial in place of Scotland or the United States, a proposal rejected by Britain and the U.S. The court’s ruling could take months.
