Geologist Locke Jacobs Dies at 62 in Idaho
Locke Jacobs, 62, self taught geologist who found Alaska’s first commercial oil deposit, died Monday of a heart attack at his Idaho horse farm. He staked a Kenai Moose Range claim in 1955, preceding Richfield Oil’s 1957 Alaska strike. Howard Jones, 68, former New Rochelle judge and drug control adviser, also died.
