Harvard University bans cuddling in the Yard after complaints that the area resembled a public park with loungers picnickers and singing couples. Charles C. Pyne, assistant to the university president, announced the rule.
The prince is recovering at Utrecht Academic Hospital after a slight operation. The secretariat said he is expected to be home before the weekend. The nature of the procedure was not disclosed.

Donald Quackenbush 20 son of Mr and Mrs George Quackenbush Woodland Ave was killed in action Sept 26 in Korea while serving with United Nations forces. He enlisted January 1948 after Roosevelt Junior High School and went to Japan in June 1948. He joined infantry at the start of the Korean War.
The Greater Community Chest reported $122 907 in pledges at the second lunch meeting in Hotel Syracuse, 29 percent of a $1 437 314 quota. Factory division led with 268 711 or 45 percent of its 604 000 quota, six factories over their targets. John Kicak a 14 year old ex Marine and associate of Sam Amato faced sentencing after pleading guilty to first degree robbery in connection with a Bellevue Dairy holdup on Geddes Street. He was shot by police after the robbery which yielded 148.13 dollars. County Judge Leo W Breed considered a prior abandonment conviction from 1946 in determining the sentence.
Acme news photographer Allyn Baum and his German driver Eberhard Tiftel were freed by Soviet authorities a day after East German police detained them for accidentally crossing the Russian Zone border near a Berlin suburb. The release followed their arrest by East German security forces.

Finance Commissioner George H.
