Four armed men wearing wigs and mustaches entered the Sherry-Netherland Hotel at 4 35 a m and bound the night manager the head porter and a bookkeeper plus a clerk before rifling the safe deposit boxes for about an hour and fleeing with an undetermined loot. No injuries reported. Capt Martin Feltman said employers finding the bound staff freed them. Police had not yet determined value or items taken.

Lockheed California Plants Hit by Major Strike
Lockheed machinists and aerospace workers walked out at Burbank Palmdale and Sunnyvale plants, as contract talks fail over wages pensions and seniority.
