Marauders drive Nazi bases deeper into occupied Europe

American Marauder medium bombers operating from Britain have forced the German air force to abandon key fighter bases in Western France and other areas. Col. Jap Steamer Sunk by Sub 300 Lives Lost

A Japanese steamer, likely the Konron Maru or Hondon Maru, was sunk by a single torpedo near Oki Island in the Tsushima Strait between Japan and Korea. Of 616 aboard, 72 were reported saved as rescue efforts faced communication and weather difficulties.

Elmira Man Killed After Car Crash at Odessa

Carl E. Breck aged 18 of Elmira died in Montour Falls Hospital from injuries after a car left the road at a curve and struck a pole at 2 a.m. last night. The wreck occurred near Odessa. Breck was riding in the automobile.
