Flu shots save money says Minnesota study
Healthy working adults who receive influenza vaccines miss fewer workdays and incur lower health care costs. The Minnesota team estimates direct savings of 46 to 60 dollars per person and indirect savings around 40 dollars from reduced absenteeism, with nationwide impact depending on season. The study appears in the New England Journal of Medicine and supports vaccination broadening beyond high risk groups.

Texas executes 100th killer since 1982 in Huntsville
Harold Joe Lane, 50, was executed at 6:19 pm becoming Texas’s 100th execution since resuming the death penalty in 1982. He killed a Winn-Dixie cashier during a 1982 Dallas robbery, after which protesters gathered at The Walls unit as Lane’s family spoke of peace and closure. Lane faced a daylight execution and left behind tearful brothers John and Ed Lane.
