Windy and cold with snow showers tonight and tomorrow. Expect possible accumulation light. Partial sun Wednesday with a few showers. Thundery conditions reappear Friday as a cold front moves through. Winds from the west to northwest, lake effect snow near Lake Ontario tonight and into the weekend.
Snow continues in the Northeast while the West Coast endures heavy rain. Chilly winds bring scattered snowfall in the Northeast as stormy conditions lash the West Coast and a high pressure system strengthens in the Southwest.
A broad forecast shows lake enhanced snow showers across northern Michigan eastern Ohio western Pennsylvania and western and central New York with heavier bursts downwind of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Up to a half foot possible in northeast Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania. A trough moves through the Northeast boosting lake effect snow into Vermont New Hampshire and Maine while the central U.S. enjoys clear to partly cloudy skies and near normal to warm highs. The West Coast faces a strong cold front with heavy rain and coastal winds up to 60 mph in northern California and scattered precipitation in northern Nevada Idaho and western Montana. Temperatures range from the 30s and 40s in the upper West and Great Lakes to 70s and 80s in the desert Southwest and Southeast. Sunday temps span from 82 in Tucson to minus 2 in Cut Bank.
